Communal Spaces (Fire Safety) Policy Consultation

In August 2024, we asked for your feedback on our new communal spaces (fire safety) policy. We were really pleased with the response - here's what you said.

Why did we ask for your feedback?

We wanted to know if you thought our policy was safe, fair, and effective - did it meet your expectations?

Who did we ask for feedback?

  • We sent out a survey to 505 members of our Digital Panel.
  • We promoted our survey on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
  • We discussed the policy at our customer Asset Management Monitoring Group, which 9 people attended. This was reported back to Challenge Group.
  • We discussed the policy at the Range & Pennine Court Residents Forum.
  • 57 customers responded to our survey.

What you said, and what we'll do

Here's a summary of what you said in the survey:

  • 65% of our customers already knew we had a policy about fire safety in communal spaces
  • 55% of our customers knew where to find the policy
  • 89% of our customers said the policy was easy to read
  • 89% of our customers said the policy was fair

Feedback was almost entirely positive on this policy.

You told us to promote it to residents by:

  • sending letters to residents who live in areas with indoor and outdoor communal spaces (68% of respondents asked for this)
  • Emailing residents (75% of respondents)
  • A poster in a communal area (79% of respondents)
  • Promoting the policy on our website (86% of respondents)

We will work on making the policy available in all of these places, if it isn't already.

We will:

  • Include the policy in our September newsletter, PlainSpeaking
  • Update the website
  • Send the policy to relevant customers via email or post, depending on their preference
  • Publish the policy in different formats, so it's accessible to everyone. You just need to let us know what format you need!

Let us know how you'd like to get involved
