ICT Apprentice – Peaks and Plains Housing Trust

We manage over 5000 homes across East Cheshire and the High Peak, working with customers and partners to provide safe homes and thriving communities.

Become an apprentice with our ICT Operations Team, and you’ll gain experience of working in a full-time role for an organisation that makes a difference to people's lives. You’ll do this while studying for a nationally recognised IT qualification.

As part of your apprenticeship programme, you’ll learn how to provide first line helpdesk support to users across the business, troubleshooting a range of issues relating to hardware, software and network connectivity. You will also learn how to use, configure and maintain key IT systems, gain an understanding of the network & server infrastructure and learn the foundations of maintenance and support on our virtual servers.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent learning on the job and gaining hands-on experience. Whilst participating in this apprenticeship and undertaking training as required, you will work under the guidance of our ICT Operations Manager.   

At the end of this apprenticeship, you’ll be a fully trained Level 3 ICT Technician with a range of career options in ICT ahead of you.

  • Starting Salary: £14,889.02 in the first year, increasing to £18,611.27 or the Real Living Wage according to age, in the second year of the Apprenticeship.
  • Training Course: Information Communications Technician (Level 3).
  • College or Training Organisation: KAPLAN. Read more about what the course involves.
  • Training Plan: You will undertake online learning provided through the Training Provider. 
  • Hours: Full-time, Mon - Fri 37 hours per week. Our operational working hours are between the hours of 8.00am-5.00pm. When working in the office, the office hours to help cover the helpdesk are 8.00am-4.00pm.   
  • Start Date: Summer 2025 – flexible- as soon as the successful candidate is available 
  • Duration: 18 month contract. Possible full-time permanent position on successful completion of apprenticeship. 
  • Positions Available: One 
  • Where you’ll work: You will work from the Peaks & Plains Office with the possibility of some hybrid working after 6 months.

 

Requirements

Essential qualifications
GCSE or equivalent in:
•    Maths and English at GCSE (or equivalent) (grade C/level 4)
