Fire Service Exercise at Range Court

Last week Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service carried out a planned training exercise at Range Court.

Last week Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service carried out a training exercise in one of our high-rise buildings – Range Court.

The scenario of the exercise was a simulated fire in the refuse chute, which quickly filled the upper floors with smoke.

Firefighters attended and dealt with this by:

  • Entering the building with breathing apparatus via the stairwells

  • Charging the dry riser to get water onto the fire

  • Carrying out rescues and simulated firefighting in smoke-filled conditions

These exercises are important to ensure customer’s safety, as it allows fire safety crew to face real building hazards that include suspended ceiling, fire doors, cladding, raking ladder to loft space and complex layout. It also provides reassurance that the Trust have left the correct information for firefighters to carry out their job quickly and efficiently.

If you’ve seen the fire crew on site, please be assured this was only a training scenario. No one was at risk, and the aim was to build confidence in how the fire service would act in your building during a real emergency.

We will hold two more training sessions in the Range court on 26 and 30 September.

If you have any questions about this exercise, please email us at trust@peaksplains.org
